Advocacy
Advocacy is a vital component of the peer movement. As a community of people in recovery, we believe that we deserve a voice in the lawmaking process, and that our personal stories of resilience can help to influence much needed reforms in mental health and addiction treatment policy. Pier 360 strives to influence the larger community by meeting with stakeholders and lawmakers to advocate on behalf of those who struggle with mental health and or substance abuse related issues.
Pier 360 holds advocacy trainings on a regular basis to help prepare individuals to use their personal story of recovery as a tool to implement positive change in the mental health and addiction policy arena. Pier 360 aims to support policy agendas that are oriented towards supporting recovery rather than illness.
